PROJECT-BASED CONSULTING

  • Legislative Advocacy – End to end support from understanding preemption and refining initial ideas, to navigating government relationships, building diverse coalitions of support, designing campaigns, and advancing legislation in spite of opposition.
  • Equity Consulting – Providing critical analysis and feedback to improve communications, organizational policies/structures/procedures; and shape external programs, in order to remove barriers across race, gender, class, age, ability, and other dividing lines.
  • Public Interest – Standing up a public interest program shouldn’t start from scratch! Ensure programs center folks most impacted by the need you are mitigating, and move in solidarity with community members and coalitions already organizing to improve conditions.

EXPERIENCE

Nonprofit Administration – 3 years as Managing Director of a 50 year old community arts nonprofit. Led the organization out of the fiscal red into the largest cash reserve in their history by leveraging grants and growing the number of projects.

Legislative Advocacy – Passed 34 bills in NYC Council, often in spite of administrative opposition. Conceived initial ideas, designed and executed campaign strategies, built nimble coalitions of support, organized internal and externals support (sign-on letters, public rallies, op-eds, hearing testimony, etc.). My portfolio includes almost every committee area: worker rights, reproductive rights, environmental justice, housing, public safety, criminal justice, domestic violence and more.
